Essilor to reward top fundraiser
Lens company Essilor are helping Optometry Giving Sight to boost their popular donation box programme by providing a third generation ipad as a prize for the nation’s top performer. Donation box subscribers will be kept updated of their place in the fundraising league table via the charity’s quarterly donation box newsletter, with the top practice of 2012 receiving the prize from Essilor in January.
Essilor has been a long term supporter of Optometry Giving Sight, and is a regular participant of the World Sight Day Company Challenge.
Andy Hepworth, Professional Services Manager of Essilor, commented: “Essilor is proud to support the donation box programme by rewarding an iPad to the highest fundraising practice. We strongly believe in the sustainable eye care projects that Optometry Giving Sight funds and we are very pleased to support their fundraising efforts".
Optometry Giving Sight funds sustainable long term programmes that provide access to vision care focused on correcting refractive error. Since 2007, 57 projects have been funded across 37 countries including Sri Lanka, East Timor, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, India, Peru, Nicaragua, Mexico, Indigenous Australia and Papua New Guinea.
“We are incredibly grateful to have Essilor’s support,” commented Georgina Woolfrey, Marketing Communications Executive of Optometry Giving Sight. “Our donation box holders are our core, year-round supporters, and I’m delighted that Essilor is providing this great incentive to the programme.”
While 2012 is a year of sport for the UK, in Malawi, Mozambique and Mali it marks the graduation of the first locally trained eye care professionals from schools of optometry funded by Optometry Giving Sight.
